Why iBT at NIEC?
Well, for one, NIEC is an ETS AUTHORIZED TEST CENTER for the iBT and the best run testing facility in Nepal with glitch free tests being run since 2006. It always makes sense to take iBT instruction and give the test at the same place but, of course, there are no special facilities for our own students on test day!
Our Academic Director is also an ex instructor of the American Language Center (New Delhi) and has a TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language) Diploma from the USA. All our iBT teachers are trained by him and use the most up to date m,ethods to impart the lessons. We also use the official ‘LanguEdge’ software in class for lessons and assignments. Lastly, mostly LCD and Digital Lab technologies are used to impart lessons.
Introduction
The iBT TOEFL Internet-based Test (TOEFL iBT) evaluates all four language skills that are important for effective communication: Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing.
iBT TOEFL emphasizes integrated skills and provides better information to institutions about students’ ability to communicate in an academic setting and their readiness for academic coursework.
Online registration and Online Score reporting make it easier for students to register for iBT TOEFL and receive their test scores.
iBT TOEFL Test Details
The test is changing to better measure what colleges and universities need to know: a prospective student’s ability to use English in an academic setting. The content is based on a collection of spoken and written language that ETS obtained from educational institutions throughout the United States. The iBT makes it possible to capture and score a test-taker’s speech in the most efficient, standardized, and objective manner.
The test includes four sections and takes about 31/2 – 4 hours to complete:

Diffrence between CBT/iBT
a. Note taking is allowed throughout the test.
b. Speaking skills are evaluated.
c. The Structure Section is no longer there. Knowledge of Grammar is not tested separately but is tested indirectly in all the Sections of the test.
d. Some questions involve integrated skills such as reading-listening-speaking-writing .
e. The Writing Section requires typing. There is an integrated task in addition to the current Independent (Essay) Task.
Course Duration
The iBT TOEFL course lasts for six weeks. Every week there is an hour of class everyday from Monday to Friday. Saturday is a holiday whereas Sunday is for full-length testing. Of Course, the Self Access Library and the Self Access Lab are open from morning to evening and you are most welcome to spend as much time as you want in them.
Course Start Date
Admissions are open every Single Monday all you have to do is just come over and register any day of the week for a class at your convenient time and start the class the following Monday.
